Soaring up high in the Sky

It’s been a year now and the New York hang over has still not gone. The more I see NY pictures over the internet ,the more I miss the big apple.

Miss the long walks at fifth avenue to indulging on tasty street food at lower Manhattan.
Shopping at the largest store of Macy to taking pictures at Times Square.
Spending evenings at Central Park to admiring the view of the city from the tallest skyscraper – Empire State.

If you are a fan of “How I met your mother” then you might have seen and heard about it on screen multiple times. It’s one of the iconic landmark of New York.

Empire State Building

Empire State Building

And visiting New York is not complete without a visit to the 102 story cultural icon soaring high up to the sky that offers breathtaking view of the city at the 86th floor observatory deck. And being the first timer to the New York City you cannot miss the chance.

We visited on a Saturday evening , it was quite crowded as expected but who cares .The building is on fifth avenue between 33rd street and 34th street and open 365 days of a year.

We bought our tickets for 25$ for the main deck at 86th floor. After that there were security check queues and elevator queue to reach to the top of the building that offers spectacular 360 degree view of the city.

Our first stop was at the 80th floor that had an exhibition of pictures & articles were displayed of who’s who and construction process of the building. We were amazed reading about the engineering and the hard work that went through to construct this engineering marvel.

Then our second stop was at the Empire State store , a perfect place to buy souvenirs for your friends , families and relatives back home.I will do a detailed post on this tomorrow on the different types of gifts that you can buy from the store and take you to a virtual tour of the store.

Third and our final destination was the 86th floor observatory deck. It’s a closed glass window with an outdoor 360 degree deck.

View of the city flooded with lights and the Hudson River meandering its path through the city looked stunning.
Winters in New York is harsh ,we could barely stand there for 5 minutes. But it was worth the visit.
