Shivanasamudram Waterfall

Situated on the banks of river Kaveri, Shivanasamudram is one of the famous tourist places in Karnataka with two major waterfalls Gaganchukki and Barachukki.The Gaganachukki and Barachukki waterfalls are best-visited post monsoon when there’s abundant water.

If you are travelling to Coorg or Mysore from Bangalore don’t miss this beautiful waterfall. This is a perfect getaway from the daily hustle and bustle of city life.

You can reach the waterfalls on Coracles – Circular shaped boat which takes you right to the base of the falls.

Best Time:  Jul – Oct
Distance:  122 Km from Bangalore
Travel Time:  Around 2 hours
Activities:  Camping, Trekking, Forest, Waterfalls, Boating

Good To Know:

  • No proper sanitation or changing rooms.
  • No facility to keep your  belongings.
  • Be careful with your belonging as it is crowded during Weekends.
  • Carry snacks and food items, as you won’t find any proper restaurants nearby.
  • Wear proper footwear to trek.(Preferably waterproof if you are planning to cross the river to go near the waterfall)

How to Reach:

By Plane: The nearest airport is in Mysore.

By Train: Nearest railway station is in Mysore, at a distance of 60 kilometers.

By Bus : The two falls are not well connected by bus. Buses fly regularly to Kollegala from Bangalore as well as Mysore. From Kollegala, one can hire cab or auto rickshaw to reach the falls.

On Road : To reach Shivanasamudra from Bangalore you can drive along the Bangalore-Mysore highway till Maddur.

    definitely, looks an amazing waterfall where one or more adventure activities we can do its. yes, if you are traveling near Mysore then it is beat option for the visit. such Mysore is one the most beautiful city in state of Karnataka, India. if you know about Mysore attractions please visit.
