Enchanting Krabi

As our plane geared up for landing tearing the cotton candy clouds, I was still looking for the sight of ocean from the sky in alacrity. The pictures of Krabi was one of the many reasons of our Thailand trip.

And before we could realize we landed at one of the smallest airport surrounded by mountains and lush greenery. Our cabbie was already there to to drive us to hotel which was at Ao nang, which is 40 minutes away by car from Krabi.

As we drove down to the Ao nang town, we were accompanied by undulating mountain range against the azure sky which looked both calm and majestic, swaying mangrove trees on either side and hardly anyone on the roads.Ao nang  is a small town tucked at the shores of  Andaman Sea with numerous resorts, shops and restaurants dotted on one side and blue placid sea on the other.

We stayed at one of the beautiful property of Accor hotels – Mecure Krabi Deevana. The location of the hotel was just perfect to explore the town though it was not a beach side resort but perfect to explore the quaint town.

Krabi is famous for its gorgeous beaches, towering limestone cliffs midst turquoise lagoon, laid back lifestyle and amiable locals. There are plenty of things to do in Krabi.

We give you a low down of what should make to your itinerary on your visit to Krabi.

Explore the unexplored :

Rent a bike and explore the quaint town.Rugged mountains, steamy tropical forest accompanied us throughout as we trod our way through the lanes of the small coastal town of Krabi. People warm and affable ready to help you find your way.So, put down the map and get happily lost in the oblivion.

Adventure sojourn :

Ultimate destination for adventure junkies, Krabi offers daily snorkeling, diving and fishing trips to various islands. Not only that, elephant trekking, AV rides, kayaking , mountain climbing and white water rafting to name a few.Every lane has shops offering the best deals for day trips and shopping around is a must as you can get a striking deal for the same package tours available online.

Relish Every Bite  :

Every corner is the boiling pot of street food.Devour on yummy pan Cakes, dig in tempting Sea food or tantalize your taste buds with famous Thai local cuisines. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes selling from western, Thai to Indian food.Don’t shy away and experiment with the local food.

Served for dinner

Island Hopping  :

Hopping one breathtaking island to another, counting the numerous shades of sea or chasing the colourful school of fishes. If this is what excites you, then you are at the right place.Spectacular view unfold right before your eyes, beaches with a perfect blue sky , scorching sun and azure coloured sea, each island more beautiful than other. We did use our bargaining skills and got a good deal for both Phi Phi Island Tour (Speed Boat) and 4 Island Tour (Long Tail Boat) , which included pickup from the hotel, lunch on the shores, fruits, water, snorkeling mask and life jacket.

Perfect for beach bummers

Shopping :

Though it’s not a shoppers paradise like Bangkok but you can find numerous shops selling beachwear to  long dresses, photo magnets to trinkets at a very affordable price. Though the initial prices are inflated but don’t forget to haggle before buying. You can buy some cool souvenirs for friends and relatives back home. Krabi night markets are also quite famous. We will take you to on a virtual shopping spree on our next post.

I love Krabi

 Spa :

You can find plenty of Spa option from foot, neck, back to full body spa. After a tiring day trip, nothing can beat a relaxing spa for a tour weary soul. Do not miss this 🙂 🙂

Night Life :

There isn’t a huge party scene, though there are a number of well-visited bars in the area, some of which even have live music. So, spend your time  downing cocktails and enjoying the music with your loved ones under starry nights.

Places to Visit :

Phi Phi Island Tour , 4 Island Tour (Chicken Island , Koh Tup, Koh Mawr and Poda), PhangNga Cave , Night Market, Tiger Cave Temple, Hot Spring , Hong Island Tour, Rai Leh Beach.

Such a beautiful place. Professor is an urban tourist as that is where man-man architecture is ….but I love at least a touch of the architecture made by God! Big smiles. . .

Krabi is where we plan to halt for a quick 4 days away from Mumbai. Can you recommend a nice place to stay. Not the Star/Hotel kinds but something more ethnic perhaps? Thanks a ton
