How to reach Lautersee from Munich, Germany

Lautersee is a beautiful Alpine lake in Bavaria, Germany. It is located close to the town of Mittenwald. The town of Mittenwald is famous for violin making and painted houses. It was once a wealthy town and a stop for travelers going to Venice. The town looks straight out of a storybook and seems to be frozen in time. Getting To Lautersee Lake

The distance from Munich is only 111 km. That makes it a perfect day trip.

From Mittenwald: 3 km
From Garmisch-Partenkirchen:  23 kms

How to reach Lautersee from Munich?

By Public Transport From Munich To Mittenwald

We personally used public transport. We would recommend the Bayern Ticket if you are traveling as a couple or group of 5 from Munich.

By Train: München Hauptbahanof – Mittenwald

There are buses that take you directly to the lake.

There are hiking and guest buses in summer and ski and cross-country skiing buses in winter free of charge. With your AlpenweltCard or your Alpenwelt Karwendel guest card , all trips with the hiking and guest bus between Mittenwald – Lautersee/ Klais Elmau / Kranzbach – Krün and Wallgau are free. 

By Car

There is a parking lot next to the lake.

There are restaurants and a hotel to stay in right next to the lake.
