Malaysia is a beautiful country not just rich in its own unique culture but also rich in diverse cultural influences from Asian and European countries. Some of the best places to visit in Malaysia includes Kuala Lumpur where you will see the world-famous Petronas Twin Towers, to the Cameron Highlands with its magnificent hills offering views that will leave you in awe…And if it’s the ocean that you want to visit then make sure the Perhentian Islands are top of your itinerary. Malaysia truly offers something for young and old alike.
As I pen down this post, I am waiting for my flight to Kuala Lumpur, in fact, 10 days ago I had no idea that I will be revisiting Malaysia
This time, I will be there for 6 days exploring the pristine beaches of Redang Island and be attending the Squid jigging festival at Terengganu. As an Indian, if we want to visit Malaysia we need a tourist visa. So, I have jotted down everything about the visa process based on my recent experience. Hope it helps to plan your vacation to this beautiful country.
VISA PROCESS
Year
2015
Processing Time:
5 Working days
Documents Needed:
- You need to submit the visa application form which can be downloaded from below link:
Ensure that the application form is filled in Upper Case letters.
- You will need three recent photographs and face should take up 60-70 % of the photograph. Check the exact specifications here.
- Bank statement for last six months.
- Two copies of Bio Page of your passport.
- Your passport should be valid for at least next 6 months from the date of application.
- Return Air Tickets (this is not mandatory but its good to have)
- Demand draft for Visa Fee and VFS charges. ( Note: Demand draft of selected banks are only considered. Check the list of banks here. )
- If you want to get the passport delivered to your address then VFS charges INR 400/- for the same.
All the documents are to be submitted to your nearest VFS center.
FEES :
I applied for my passport on a Monday and my passport with the approved visa was delivered at my home on a Saturday. The overall charges of getting multiple entry tourist visas were INR 1000 (visa fees) + INR 2000 (VFS charges) + INR 300 (Courier Charges) + 400 INR (VFS Tax). So overall it cost me INR 3700/- to get multiple entry visas valid for one year.
*NEW UPDATE*
If you want to visit Malaysia in 2017 and you have an Indian passport, then you are in luck!
Indian nationals can now apply online for their tourist visa to Malaysia.
This eVisa to Malaysia is actually a great implementation from the Malaysian Government. Off course there are still a few restrictions when applying for your visa online to Malaysia but they are simple to meet. After applying for your Malaysian eTourist Visa you will receive in PDF format your visa via email. You need to submit a few documents online but that’s it, easier than ever before when you apply with iVisa. The Malaysian tourist visa will be linked electronically to your passport, no need for a visa sticker or visiting an embassy anymore. You simply print your PDF document, and voila!
Malaysia eVisa restrictions for Indians
Indian nationals can ONLY apply for a visa online to Malaysia from the following list of countries:
- India
- Hong Kong
- Taiwan
- Bangladesh
- Nepal
- Myanmar
- Australia
If you are not inside any one of those countries then you can not apply for the eVisa. You will then have to contact the nearest Malaysian Consulate for details on how to apply.
How long is the eVisa valid?
The Malaysia Visa is valid to be used for a period of 3 months (90 days) and Indian passport holders can stay a maximum of 30 days in Malaysia.
