1. City Palace

The City palace museum is a must-visit place in Udaipur. It was built by Maharanas of Mewar in the 18th century and is situated on the banks of Lake Pichola. The palace complex consists of various buildings, most notably the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), Jag Mandir (Jain temple), and Chitrashala (mosaic hall). The City Palace Museum is one of the best places to visit in Udaipur. It has a variety of exhibits including paintings, sculptures, weapons, and miniature paintings.

2. Jag Mandir

The Jagmandir Palace is a part of the Udaipur Royal Complex. The palace has a rich history and is the most popular tourist attraction in the city. It was built by Maharaja Jagat Singh II in 1628 and is now one of the most visited places for tourists in Udaipur.

Jag mandir palace can only be reached via boat ride from Bansi Ghat jetty. There are also private boats and cruise rides available from the ghats. 

3. KARNI MATA TEMPLE 

The temple of Karni Mata is one of the most important temples in India. The temple was built from 1620 to 1628 by Maharana Karan Singh. You can take the ropeway to visit the temple or opt for the stairs. The staircase is accessible from Manikylal Verma Park near Dudh Talai Lake.

4. VISIT THE GHATS 

The ghats in Udaipur are one of the most popular tourist attractions in India. They are located on the banks of Pichola Lake and have been a part of the city for centuries.

There are numerous ghats in Udaipur, and each one is different from the others. Some are used for cremations and some for religious purposes, while others have been built for recreational activities such as boat rides on Pichola Lake or fishing.

5. SAJJANGARH PALACE

Sajjangarh Palace is a former royal residence belonging to the Mewar dynasty. Famously known as Monsoon palace was built by Maharana Sajjan Singh. The intent was to construct an astronomical center that could facilitate the tracking of monsoon clouds. Highly recommend visiting this place during sunset.

  • Entry fees are 50 Rs per person and for a car 90 Rs per person.

6. FATEH SAGAR LAKE

This artificial lake was constructed by Maharana Jai Singh in 1678 AD and it lies north of Lake Pichola. If you are someone looking for the best street food in Udaipur to satiate your soul. We would highly recommend visiting the street-side vendors near Fateh Sagar lake.

7. SAHEYLIYON KI BARI

Also called the garden or courtyard of the Maidens. It is one of the most touristy places in Udaipur. The garden was built during the reign of Rana Sangram Singh and presented to his wife.

  • Entrance Fee – Rs 10 and for Foreign Visitors – Rs 50
  • Best Months to Visit – September to March

8. AHAR CENOTAPHS

Not visited by many tourists. This place is quite popular amongst wedding photographers and Instagrammers.

9. GANGU KUND

Right next to the Ahar Centophas is the Gangu Kund. A historical place to visit but unfortunately not well maintained. 

10. BADI LAKE & BAHUBALI LAKE

If you are looking for a place away from the maddening crowd of Lake Pichola or Lake Fateh, a visit to Badi Lake and Bahubali lake might entice you. 

Badi Lake is located in the village of Badi, around 12km from the city of Udaipur. The best way to reach the lake from Udaipur is to rent a taxi/tuk-tuk driver for the day.

Bahubali lake is close to Badu lake. It is 15-20 minutes of easy trekking up to the main spot from the car parking, which is surrounded by hills from three sides of Badi lake.
