If you’re looking for a personal slice of paradise in Bali with an amazing room with a Jacuzzi or private pool precariously overlooking the Indian Ocean then look no further than the Anantara Uluwatu Resort. Perched high on a cliff the resort offers utterly gorgeous views of the sea that will take your breath away.
Imagine dips in the pool watching the setting sun, soaking in an outdoor jacuzzi with an interrupted view of the sea, whiling your time on the beach which is accessible only by a lift, and gorging on some gorgeous food with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean – that is what sums up our stay at Anantara Uluwatu Bali.
Perched high on the hillside in the stunning reservation of Bali’s southern shores, Anantara Uluwatu exceeds all expectations with its spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. We stayed there for a couple of days before saying adieu to Bali and there was no better way to end our trip at this super luxurious property where days were spent succumbing to the rejuvenation and relaxation and with every detail celebrating the richness of Balinese culture.
• • • Welcome • • •
The sun had already set when we reached Anantara Uluwatu Resort in Bali. The moment we stepped out of our car, the porter rushed to pick up our luggage. As we climbed a flight of stairs to get to the reception, a breeze of sea air welcomed us. The reception area had the quintessential Balinese style set up with an open and breezy reception area and the furniture seamlessly blending into the surroundings. Even at 8 PM, we received a very warm Balinese welcome from the staff at the front desk. After a quick and refreshing welcome drink, we handed our passports for a quick check-in process.
After the formalities were done, we were escorted to our room.

Our stay was at one of the Ocean View Suites on the third floor. As we walked towards our room, we were given a brief overview of the resort, the timings of the restaurants, activities, and amenities at the resort.
Providing a sleek oceanfront setting the rooms or suites features customized comfy king-sized bed with bedside lamps, and floor-to-ceiling glass window that opens up to the balcony. There are seating areas with sofas, flat-screen TVs, and an outdoor jacuzzi to soak in within the comfort of your room. There were BOSE speakers attached to the four corners of the ceiling to provide a perfect setting to watch movies. The bathroom included a separate shower area and grooming area which allows for two people to prepare for the day at the same time without interfering with one another. It also comes equipped with helpful bath products that range from shampoo, conditioner, and body soap neatly displayed on a patterned porcelain dish. Most of our idle time was spent in the Jacuzzi on the patio, admiring the beautiful views of the ocean.
The resort has luxurious and elegantly appointed 74 sea view suites, private pool villas, and an exclusive penthouse, all with exceptional views of the ocean, and most suites feature an outdoor Jacuzzi on the balcony.
On our very next day, we were given a tour of the property where we were shown the utterly gorgeous villa. The villa has its own Private Pool and sun deck, talk about some privacy and indulgence. 🙂 🙂
Every villa is unique with stunning views of the sea, a jacuzzi, and a private pool. All villas are built and decorated in simple tones with a hint of Anantara comfort.
• • • Dining • • •
The next morning, breakfast was an equally decadent affair. Served in the stunning 360 restaurant, overlooking the ocean, a wonderful buffet with a huge array of Continental, Balinese & Thai delicacies and to top it up with freshly squeezed fruit, juice, and cereals – the ideal way to fuel up for the day with something to suit all tastes.
You can ogle at the view whilst you dive into pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, and coffee – what more can you wish for? The service was attentive and polite.
Bar at 360 Restaurant
There are three onsite restaurants at the resort. Each restaurant offers some tantalizing and tempting food to cater to every palette. 360 Restaurant offers Western, Indonesian, Balinese & Asian food, Sono Teppanyaki offers contemporary Japanese cuisine and Splash offers Asian and Mediterranean food. And, for a private dining experience, there is Dewika Lounge and Dining by Design.
Splash Restaurant offers a mouth-watering array of seafood. We didn’t have our dinner here but had some snacks in the evening after lounging in the pool for a while.

The resort’s infinity pool glides into another to form a stage-like setting to immerse in infinite views of the Indian Ocean – a view you are not likely to ever forget. The views of the sunset from the pool are utterly stunning and the colors are incredible.

Spa
After watching an amazing sunset and having some snacks at the Splash restaurant, we decided to go for a couple spa therapy at the Anantara Spa. As we entered the spa we were greeted at the spa reception and were offered a welcome drink. The whole area is very well thought-out. As soon as we reached we were handed two forms to fill with our current mental and physical condition. The form also had questions about if we had any sore areas and other details where we did not want the masseuse to work on. After filling up the form we were asked to choose the oil, we chose the Lavender oil as it did smell the best among all the options.
We were guided to the beautiful dimly lit couple treatment room where were asked to change into the spa robes and hit the gong when we were ready.
Foot Massage and the Gong
The treatment started with a foot massage which was followed by 90 minutes full body spa. As we lay happily on the bed with gentle music being played in the background, our therapist worked their magic from toe to head. It made us instantly feel relaxed and soothing music helped to calm our nerves. The 90 minutes were extremely relaxing and rejuvenating and once it was over we retired to the relaxation area to sip herbal teas and relax.
The Spa has 4 single and 1 couple treatment rooms and also has a salon for hair treatments. You need a prior appointment for both the spa and the salon. The Spa offers the following types of therapies to its guests:
- Sensual Spice Odyssey
- Floral Foot Ritual
- Island of Java Journey
- Floral Foot Ritual
- Anantara Signature Massage
- Bali Boreh Body Mask
- Floral Foot Ritual
Free Shuttle Service
The resort also provides free shuttle service to Padang Padang beach and Uluwatu temple.
Photo Shoot Ops
The resort is extremely thoughtful about making your stay personal and memorable. The in-house photographer is appointed to capture your beautiful memories while at the resort. The first thirty minutes of your photoshoot are free.
Surfing
The most famous surfing spot in Bali is right next to the hotel, so if you are a surfing enthusiast then look no further. The most famous surfing places are Uluwatu, Impossible, and Padang Padang.
We do not know how to surf hence we had to give it a miss.

What a stunning spot! I so love the jacuzzi on the porch. What a great spot to feel pampered and relax and take in the amazing views. I love that it is covered as I avoid the sun as much as possible so I could really relax there without thoughts to sunscreen coverings or sunscreen. The lovely sunset photo….makes me sigh! We’d love to visit!
Mel says
What an amazing place. It all looks so inviting. I want to be in that infinity pool right now! And the spa sounds so relaxing. And the food yummy…and everything about it looks like paradise.

Beautiful – like made in paradise! Not only this breathtaking landscape, this clear blue ocean and pool, it is also about so many small details that make a trip from something really nice to outstanding great experience…
Such details like the Bose speakers in the four corners proof obviously that as a Guest you are truly a king and nothing shall be missed. Great photos!
Leiha says

Wow this place looks amazing!!! Love that spa on the balcony looking over the ocean. We are off to Bali in a few weeks – but sadly our budget will not stretch that far – but I am sure we will have a fantastic time nevertheless.

What a gorgeous property! I love the tub with the view in the open air. This would be a favorite spot of mine. What’s not to love about the pool and those views! I love how easy the elevator makes it, too, to get down to the beach. Bali is on the list for sooner rather than later so I’ll be keeping this resort in mind.
Only By Land says
I can see why the infinity pool at Anantara Uluwatu Bali was the highlight, the view of the Indian Ocean is amazing. I would stay in there all day. The view from the windows are amazing too, the location is perfect. I like the idea of having 30 minutes of a private photographer included, he got some great shots of you guys.
Ticker Eats The World says
So AMAZING! Bali has really come up as a luxury destination and the Anantara resort really takes the cake especially with that pool and the views all around. Loved how luxurious it is and the rooms are so fancy with all the food and drinks on call. The mini-movie theater is a nice addition even though when in Bali it’s best to watch the natural movie of nature. Thanks for all the details.

We’ll be going back to Bali this fall and we’re currently scouting nice places to stay. Looks like we’ll have to add Anatara Uluwatu to the list! Love the outdoor tub and infinity pool, and it’s always a bonus having access to a private beach. The complimentary 30min photoshoot is a nice touch!
Clare says

Vicky @ A Backpack Full of Adventures says
That looks amazing! I’ve never been to Bali before (although it did cross my mind since I’m going to Singapore later this year) but if I did go, I’d love to stay in a hotel like this! The Jacuzzi on the patio looks fantastic, I don’t think I’d leave the room if I was there! 😀
Alexis Rivard says
I’ve heard so many amazing things about Anantara Resort. Luxury travel isn’t my thing but I’m pretty sure I can make an exception for such a beautiful resort – especially if they give photo ops. My instagram needs to be lit after all.
Jenn and Ed Coleman says
What a beautiful property. We recently visited Thailand and had a tub overlooking the ocean like yours. Unfortunately, it was a cold tub. Perhaps there are times in the year where that would be ideal. However, I think we would have preferred to have a hot bubble bath while watching the ocean. We also love surfing so having direct access to the best surfing beach would be fantastic. Surfing, especially in San Diego where we live, can be pernicious. The good waves come when they want so proximity to the break is of utmost importance.
Maggie says
What a gorgeous property! I love the pool, my daughter would have a blast in it. And the room! You had a gorgeous room, love the bathtub!
Christie Sultemeier says
I feel like EVERYONE is going to Bali lately!! Maybe it’s a sign that I need to go? That villa looks to die for – especially the view from the tub. And I’m kind of upset you linked all those awesome clothes at the bottom because they are all AMAZING and now I’m going to have to go buy something! I love the poms, especially since they are rainbow. I love color so much. Thanks for sharing all of this info – it was really, really thorough.
Global Girl Travels says
That infinity pool looks amazing – you won me over when I saw that. But then there is a jacuzzi too? And a view like that? Sign me up now!
Rick & Marley says
Wow, Uluwatu Resort looks really beautiful from your photos. That lift to the beach is awesome and the water is so clear! Nice to have the whole beach to yourself. Bali is on our bucket list and this resort is definitely somewhere I would love to stay at!
Christie says
Your photos are stunning! I love the Jacuzzi on the patio, that looks so relaxing. And, the views from the infinity pool are priceless. I can’t get over the wedding chapel too, so gorgeous!
Ling says
Oh…my…GOD! That place looks stunning! I could definitely hang around the infinity pool all day and enjoy that sunset! *sigh* Everytime I see a new post in Bali, it just makes me want to go even sooner. I’ll definitely have to try to make plans soon. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to stay at the Anantara Uluwatu Resort and maybe not a hostel for once 😉
Janine Good says
Wow! This resort looks incredible. I love the swim out pools, the large selection of spa amenities, and the food looks delicious. I have not been to Bali before, but must keep Ukuwatu in mind instead of going to the typical touristy areas. This is a beautiful paradise that clearly treats guests right.

We are completely in awe of the Anantara Uluwatu resort, we wouldn’t actually bother going out to explore the city there is so much to do and explore in the resort itself 🙂 The idea of private Jacuzzi and pool sounds awesome and that view of the sunset over the blue ocean from your room is drool-worthy! A theater or an appointed photographer, the chapel everything seems just perfect. Definitely gonna consider this on our visit to Bali.

You got so lucky! I was thinking why there were no other tourists then I read that you had no one to share the beach. That was really special. I am sure that you have enjoyed staying at this resort because your photos look lovely and beautiful. The best part was your dining experience at the 360 restaurant. It looks fancy. I like the variety of food options too. They really cater to a lot of guests from different nationalities. I would love to visit this resort someday.
