Travel from Munich to Bangalore during the Pandemic

Munich to Bangalore

If you are looking for a step-to-step guide to book your travel from Munich to Bangalore during the pandemic, then in this post we share with you all the details and things you have to follow before booking and after booking your flights based on our personal experience. We booked our flight from Munich to Bangalore via Frankfurt. We opted for Lufthansa Airlines. We avoided British Airways because of the new strain of the virus and the new lockdown rules. Check out the Youtube video below for the entire process and steps for travel from Munich to Bangalore during the pandemic.

Important Note: Check details on the Bangalore International Airport website for the steps to be followed as these keep changing frequently. Here’s the FAQ link

1. Check & Book for flights

Check for flights and any new important updates/news before booking flights. Usually, if there’s an important update, most likely there will be a pop-up. Don’t ignore any pop-ups or banners with important messages. If you still have any confusion, call the airline’s customer care or helpline number before booking so that there is no confusion henceforth.

Here’s the list of the few flights that are operational:-

  • Air India
  • Lufthansa
  • British Airways
  • Qatar
  • Oman Air

Air India and Lufthansa are the ones which are quite popular.

Once you have booked your flights based on availability, keep an eye on all the emails sent by the airlines.

2. Book your Covid Test Appointment at any of the Centers.

Register for a free Corona Test at the following website if you are a resident of Bavaria. The results are generally available within 24 hours and are in both English and Deutsch.

Note: The appointment should be scheduled in a way that the test result is not older than 72 hours when you land at your destination.

3. Fill in the required forms

Fill up the Air Suvidha form before 72 hours of your travel.

4. Download Required APPS before landing on your phone.

You are supposed to download and install three apps but we were only asked if we had Arogya Setu during boarding and at Bangalore airport.

  • Arogyasetu app
  • Apthamitra
  • QuarantineWatch

Note: You will be asked by the Bangalore Airport Officials as well as before boarding the flight to confirm the downloads so make sure you do it before your flight takeoff.

5. Self-Declaration Form

Wait for approval from the government for the self-declaration form. Once you get the approval email, print the form, and carry it with you.

6. Exemption form

Once you get your Covid Test report and it’s negative, fill in the exemption form.

7. Hard Copies

Ensure that you carry at least 2 hard copies of each form and also ensure that you have a printed boarding pass.

Note: There’s no mandatory quarantine at Bangalore

If you follow all these above steps and check the updated guidelines on the respective sites, your travel should be a breeze. Do let us know in the comment section below your travel experiences during this pandemic.
